Slow Burn/Downturn is a collage series that explores the economy and its impact on larger cultural and social concerns. The series began in 2009 following the subprime loan crisis, which threatened the viability of financial institutions and resulted in many people becoming homeless. Each piece features themes of the US dollar bill to represent power, opportunism, class, economic, and gender inequality. There are currently over 50 pieces in the series, all of which measure 8” x 10” (horizontal or vertical).
